Rethinking the Future of Education

Repeated work within education (specifically with High Schools) has strengthened a conviction within TomorrowToday that it is in this essential arena that tomorrow’s battles will be won. Having invested considerable time and effort in sharing Generational Theory (Mind the Gap) with educators TomorrowToday has now developed a strategic framework to assist educators rethink their own context and future.

This framework draws on the vast international experience TomorrowToday has gleaned in our work in strategic leadership development and consulting. Responding and adapting to the increasing complexity, uncertainty and changing context is a challenged faced by all sectors be that government, the private sector or education. There are critical mind-ware shifts required and skill sets to be learnt if we are to prepare learners for the future.

This framework is best experienced as a workshop that is designed to surface and articulate the ‘right’ questions that educators need to be asking of themselves and their institutions. The workshop will traverse three critical areas:

(1) Exploring the context in which you find yourself

(2) Educating Generation Y

(3) Getting to grips with the ‘new reality’ that is social technology

The duration of the workshop is flexible and can be tailor-made to suit your own requirements and constraints.

The workshop relies on active participation from the participants and can be done with either the entire staff team or a select group. The challenge is to be willing to undertake what Albert Einstein said was the ‘hardest work of all’ – to think! If the mind works best in the presence of a question then this workshop promises to do just that as it is centered on helping you find the right questions to be asking in these three critical areas.

Asked as to why TomorrowToday had specifically ventured into this arena, founding partner Keith Coats responded: “For years we have played a role in education. It has long been a passion for many of us within TomorrowToday and we see it as a small opportunity to give back and invest in the future. We want to take the best of what we have learnt elsewhere and assist schools rethink their future. This is a framework designed to do just that. We don’t prescribe the answers but rather help educators find their own way forward. We are excited as to the contribution this simple framework might make in assisting educators along this pathway”
