Four generations are working together in today’s workplace. Each brings unique assumptions to their jobs, with differing attitudes and behaviours towards the world of work. Often, events in the workplace are interpreted differently by individuals from different generations, resulting in communication breakdowns, frustration, low productivity and lost sales.
The business application module of this ‘Mind the Gap’ video training series helps participants to apply an understanding of the different generations to the world of work. It focuses on a number of key generational issues that cause frustration and concern in many of the clients the TomorrowToday team has worked with over a number of years, but also provides a template for your team to engage with your own generational issues.
Here is a brief video to overview the business application module:
The ideal use of the programme in businesses is for a team to work through the videos and discussion guide either in two 2 hour sessions, or in eight half hour interventions over a period of a few weeks. The first few videos introduce the concept of generational theory and give insights into the different generations, and then there is specific application to the world of work. Typical generational conflict areas are addressed, including communication, meeting management and team dynamics. The discussion guide provides a simple framework for any team to deal with any generational issues.
For larger clients, there is also the possibility of recording specific additional modules to address particular issues that might have been identified within the company.
